Quick review: Laat Me Niet Alleen - Renate Dorrestein
Laat Me Niet Alleen (Don't leave me)
Author: Renate Dorrestein
Short summary and opinion: Every year an established Dutch author is asked to write an essay on the subject of Bookweek. In 2008 the theme was 'The elderly... - third age in literature.' Instead of a regular essay, Renate wrote the Don't Leave Me self-help guide: 'How to age in the twenty-first century in seven easy steps'. I liked her satirical style. Especially the way she points out how people are in denial about getting older is enlightening. She also mentioned a lot of websites that seem worth investigating. A lovely read.
Rating: 7,5/10
Curious? This book is not available in another language, but a lot of her novels are translated in English, French or German. She is one of our best writers, I recommend her other books. These are available in English.
